Over the years I have tried different Yoga classes in different cities and always enjoyed it but did not make time for practicing on a regular basis. It just wasn’t a priority and there was always too much going on in my life with my husband, kids, work and just the day to day stuff…
As we all go through different phases in our lives, ups and downs, overall I managed to make it through the difficult times okay like most of us do. Even though not necessarily always in the most healthy ways: Distracting myself by watching too much TV and surfing the net, shopping, drinking and eating lots of unhealthy foods just to name some. It makes you think there is lots of ways to cope with stress that are not that great for you!
Then my husband became ill when I was pregnant with our second child. His health became so critical that he pretty much spent the whole pregnancy in the hospital and none of the Doctors had any idea how to help him. He got worse by the day and nobody knew what to do.
Finally after over a year of this battle and just after our son was born he got help. We were able to fly him to the US where specialists finally figured out what the problem was. Life turned around again and he was getting better and we felt extremely lucky and appreciated life in a different way!
Even though things were finally looking good again, my emotions didn’t seem to agree with everything and I fell into a “post stress depression”. Very confusing if that hits you at a time when you think you should just be happy and thankful but your psyche and emotions don’t agree with it and need to deal with all of that old stress that accumulated during a time when you had to be the “rock”.
That’s my story and how I found yoga because I experienced right there and then that my old coping mechanisms (specially eating unhealthy foods and drinking too much) didn’t work anymore. All it did was make me feel more depressed, sick and tired. A friend of mine and Yoga teacher started to build a daily Yoga routine with me. First it was one of those things where I sort of had to drag myself to do it… Some days I was actually excited about it and some days I had to pretty much force myself to practice. Then I discovered that doing a regular routine completely changed my life. Physically and mentally: It changed my outlook on life and the way I feel about myself and others.
I would like to share this passion for Yoga with you because it has done so much for me. Please join me transforming your life and becoming a healthier, more energetic and happier you!
Namaste
